As well as our most popular cores, we offer a selection of alternatives to try and guarantee that almost all requirements can be catered for.
Polystyrene is a good thermal insulation product. However, although it is manufactured with a flame retardant additive, due to its thermoplastic properties, its performance in a fire is poor. It is available in different grades and thickness’. It is a lightweight and cost effective insulation product for environments where fire is not a concern.
Styrofoam is a trademark of Dow Corning Company for extruded polystyrene. It has an increased density and improved thermal performance. Styrofoam is most commonly used as the insulation product for freezer floors due to its compressive strength and enhanced thermal performance.
Foamglas is a lightweight, rigid material, with high compressive strength, composed of millions of completely sealed glass cells. Each cell is an insulating entity in itself. Foamglas is used for many different applications including low temperature pipe, equipment, tanks and vessels, chemical processing systems and steam and chilled water piping.
